All About WIGS

I'm now a blogger for Edinburgh Online Fashion Week, super exciting project that will be building up until October! Any Fashion folk in Scotland or THE WORLD should get involved!!! CCCCHECK IT OUT HERE

Wigs, wigs, wigs and more wigs! All of a sudden they have popped up from no where, covering the catwalks of Brighton Fashion Week and the red carpet of the Scottish Fashion Awards. Lou Clavé of Hair for Heros is the genius who has brought back the wig. So far seen on the fashion crowd in Glasgow on the heads of Obscure Couture and model Julia Bell, while being used in photoshoots for Isolated Heros and Once Upon A Time.
Bringing back the wig coincides nicely with the revival of 90s fashion. The tackier, the

glossier, the brighter, the better. They are the perfect backdrop for head chains and hair accessories, and offset bindis beautifully. Not only does Lou Clavé provide wigs, she has an aray of coloured hair extensions, varying from bright neons to pretty pastals. Lou is not only a skilled wig applier and creator, she is an amazing stylist and has done some impressive and magical things with hair. My particular favourite hairstyle is the beautifully ornate beehive she created for Laura McMonagle for the Sunday Herald.

I’ve always had preconceptions about wigs. How on earth do you get all your hair underneath them? They were always so overly glossy, so ridiculously bright and just really quite tacky. However, now I am older and wiser I embrace the tack and the concept that I can have a whole new hairstyle in ten minutes. Normally being one of these people who is minimum fuss with hair and make up I find it amazing how smitten I have become with Hair for Heros. Minimalism is out the window, it is now time for the bright and the brash!

Amateur.

I've been going through old baby and family photos the past week to get a little slideshow together for the Bday and I found packs of photographs from my first ever camera. Amongst all the pictures of my dog and hamster there are actually some really beautiful images. Makes me think about what my friend Flo said about trying to unlearn skills so you go back to the naivity of the 10 year old, picking up a camera for the first time.
I might just be being completely bias as they are my photographs and I feel unbelievably nostalgic towards them but they are probably better than what I could do now, seeing as I overthink everything and care far too much about composition, angles etc. Just go with the flooooooow...

Bond Hardware

This weekend I had a three day celebration for my cousin Laura's 21st, and this has started the horrific questions of "NOW WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE FOR YOUR 21ST REBECCA???".

To any normal person this is fantastic but I am the most fussy person in the world. I don't like silver, unless it's a certain type of silver. I like simple. I am just a horrific person to buy for, as my friend Katie has been reminding me every single time I see her. It's quite traditional to get jewellery for your 21st, but I never exceed more than 3 items of jewellery at the one time, and it's the exact same thing every single time. I've been wearing my Sakdidet Road skull necklace since my birthday last year, that is commitment.

SOO i've started hunting for jewellery, and I have come across the beautiful Brooklyn based design duo Dana Hurwitz & Vincent Barile. They are apparently inspired by the three Fs of fashion, fetish + found objects. The pieces I am in love with are clearly inspired by household items, such as chain and window locks and the piece I most desire is the 'Hitch Ring'. I have no idea what a Hitch Ring is but I want one. Their prices range from $33-$66 so not ridiculous at all.
