jesus on my necka-lace.

Oooh my first ever personal styling picture! If you know me, i thoroughly dislike my photo being taken but i'm so chuffed with this Topshop Boutique sale find that if yo got it flaawnt it. Been eyeing it up for quite a while and i know i could probably make it but what the hell i'm on my holidays. I'm feeling the emo/i hate life look lately, no more of the crappy floral prints that are going about, i'm all about the emo within. Oh and my parents are just back from rome and bought me sexy rosary beads with the pope on them.

jingle bells.

Okay, quite old news now but if you havn't heard Sleigh Bells yet, GO LOOK NOW DUFUS.

choon.

A Brooklyn, NY, based duo they have a super individual sound, think The White Stripes but on acid and a lot cooler with an amazing bitch running the show. I went to see them perform in Glasgow just after New Years, so gutted i never took photos, their stage show was heavily lit and all smoked up so for the majority you only saw their silhouettes thrashing about the stage. I was just recovering from chicken pox so didn't have the energy to fight to the front of the gig nor did i want to attract  attention to my gruesome, poxed self.

lets get naked.

Rummaging about my photo albums and found my mini portfolio from last year, no way in hell am i a good artist, but i do miss life drawing. That awkward moment when they drop the dressing gown, and when the hungover model ko's on the floor and starts to snore. I'm well going to start doing it once i'm 21, eeeeasy money just to let some kids/middle age wanna be artists draw your boobs.
All made me think of my favourite nude photographer who i looked into lots during G-Spot magazine, Rankin. Just lovely, honest nakedness. With a lot of sexual ineuendo.
feeling the colours all around, like the artist i am.

textstylos.

Finally, the textiles. I applied for this course last year and i've been to the fashion shows almost every year for the past five, but to be perfectly honest, i'm quite glad i didn't get in now. Beautiful textiles, the students are dead talented but see the pile of fabrics that were in each set up, like hell i could do that! It annoyed me aswell you didn't get to see any final garments or furnishings, only two girls had final pieces and photoshoots, while only a handful had illustrations, kind of gutting really. Some set ups just looked like a pop up Mandors. But i'm looking forward to seeing what the fashion students will whip up at GSA over the next bit, show those textilers who's boss. Oh look, here's some pretty pictures;

how much do you want all of those pillows?! she'll get scooped up by Ikea in ne time.

one of the only final garments, unsure about the practicality of the cage.

archi-types.

As promised, here are some photographs from the Glasgow School of Art degree show. I only went round the Architecture and Textiles groups, wish i'd had time for the communications and the fine art stuff but ahwell. Architecture really amazes me, people always say fashion and architecture are closely related because you're building something and having to sell it, but i've never got my head round how people can create buildings and room shapes, and concrete or wood? Decisions, decisions. Textiles photographs to come.

Christopher Muir's architectural novel.

hand made sketchbook from one of thr Masters students.

This guy's work, i'm such a dufus i forgot to write names down, had the most beautiful Gaudi-esque style. Everyone's renders and drawings were very structural, clear and black & white,  but his were beautifully painted, with fantasical colours.

dance right down to the gutter.

I'm a lucky enough goose to have a boyfriend who goes to Glasgow School of Art, so managed to be a tag along and get to go to their street party, which coincides with their degree show. It's an odd little affair, living in Edinburgh for a year i'm quite used to drinking on the streets, bringing out the 14 year old within me. It was like a mini festival where everyone dressed beautifully art schooly, sweater vests and satchels ahoy, but your surrounding was the Mackintosh building. Took a few snaps, more degree show ones of the Architecture and Textiles students to come m'dears.
